If you're like me, you're eyeballing the fractal capacitor.  Here's the progression and the costs involved.  Get ready for  ..a lot of fractals!





You start with the Prototype Fractal Capacitor.  Easy peasy.  It's an exotic level back piece that you can buy in Dessa's lab from BUY-4373.  This is also where you buy the Gift of Ascensions needed later on.

From there, you throw it in the mystic forge to ascend it to the Prototype Fractal Capacitor (Ascended).  It will have the same appearance as the unascended version.

24 skill points to buy 40 Crystals (if offensive stats) from Miyani
24 skill points to buy 240 Philosopher Stones (if defensive stats) from Miyani

The next step creates an infusion slot in the back piece as well as updating its look.  This makes the Beta Fractal Capacitor (Infused).

The last trip into the mystic forge makes the crown jewel, the Fractal Capacitor (Infused).  This change is strictly cosmetic.

And there it is!  One purchase and three forges.  Obviously the major hurdle will be gaining the fractal relics, but keep in mind that each completion of a fractal run will reward a pristine fractal relic.  Each pristine fractal relic can be cashed in for 15 regular fractal relics.  Also remember that each run through the forge will destroy any infusions or upgrades in the back piece.
